Reservation Policies
Pricing, Discounts & Fees
Trip prices and fees are subject to change at any time. Price changes will NOT be applied retroactively to existing reservations. Unfortunately we are no longer able to offer Loyal Customer, AAA or other discounts.
- Group Discounts: See "Custom Pricing" below.
- Standby Fares: For half & full-day trips we occasionally offer remaining seats on the following day's trips at half price! Standby fares are only available by phone after 1:00 p.m. the day before the trip, are first-come, first-serve and cannot be held or reserved in advance. Availability can change very quickly. If standby fares are offered for multi-day trips it will be posted on the Home Page of our website.
- Custom Pricing: For large groups or groups requesting trips with unusual logistics, special requests or out of the ordinary itineraries, custom pricing is available. Custom pricing will be determined on a case-by-case basis. See Private & Custom Trips for more information.
- Additional Fees: Oregon has no sales tax and there are no additional fees added for normal or necessary elements of the trip with the exception of some transportation costs and lodging fees for single travelers. Charges may be added for additional pre and post-trip services if requested by a guest.
Payment, Cancellation & Travel Insurance
Half & One-Day Trips
Full payment is due at time of reservation. Payments are fully refundable up to 30 days prior to your trip date. Cancellations received within 30 days of your trip date are subject to a $10/person cancellation fee. No refunds are offered for cancellations received within 48 hours of your trip.
Multi-Day Trips
A 20% deposit (based on regular price of the trip) is required at time of reservation and is non-refundable. The deposit will be held as a credit if cancellation is received prior to 60 days before your trip. Final payment is due 30 days prior to the trip and is non-refundable.
Cancelled Trips
If the decision is made by Ouzel Outfitters to cancel a trip due to low or high water, river or road closures, insufficient bookings or any other reason beyond our control you will be offered an alternate trip or a full refund.
Wildfire & Air Quality
We do not cancel trips in the event of a nearby wildfire. Trips will run as scheduled unless the river is closed by local or federal authorities, in which case an alternative trip or full refund will be offered. Furthermore, we do not cancel trips because of poor air quality due to smoke from nearby or distant wildfires.
- Considerations for Multi-Day Trips. Should you decide that you are uncomfortable with air quality due to smoky conditions or with the presence of a nearby wildfire and choose not to participate in a trip you will not be eligible for a refund or credit. Trip cancellation insurance can help you to recover your investment. Keep in mind that certain types of insurance (such as “cancel for any reason”) must be purchased within a certain amount of time after paying a deposit for a trip.
- Considerations for Half and One-Day Trips. Should you decide that you are uncomfortable with poor air quality due to smoky conditions or with the presence of a nearby wildfire and choose not to participate in a trip you will be offered the opportunity to reschedule your trip on a different river or different date within the current rafting season. Should you decide to cancel altogether, refunds will not be offered, but 50% of your total trip fare will be held as a credit towards any future trip for a period of two years.
Owyhee: Our cancellation policy for Owyhee River trips is flexible. A $100/person deposit is required to confirm your reservation. Final payment is due when we can confirm that your trip will run (not earlier than 30 days prior to departure). All payments for Owyhee River trips are refundable up until we confirm your trip.
Private & Custom Trips: For private or customized trips, pricing, payment and cancellation policies will be customized according to what works best for Ouzel Outfitters and for you or your organization.
Trips Booked for the Following Year
If you have a reservation for a trip the following year, you may cancel for any reason up until December 31st of the current year for a full refund. On January 1st, the cancellation and refund policies outlined above are in effect.
Trip Protection Insurance
Travel Insurance is highly recommended for all multi-day trips. Once you book a trip, we are no longer able to offer those spaces to another person or to another group whose group-size exceeds the remaining availability for that trip. As such we will adhere to the cancellation and refund policies listed above and to which you have agreed when making your reservation.
Life happens! Unanticipated health issues, unexpected scheduling conflicts and last-minute travel hiccups can prevent you from participating in a trip or you may decide to cancel your reservation over concerns with COVID-19, air quality, weather or other issues beyond anyone’s control. We highly recommend travel insurance to cover any non-refundable costs associated with a trip. should you need to cancel or interrupt your trip due to a covered reason on the plan. For more flexible coverage, you may want to purchase the Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) upgrade.* Travel insurance can also include emergency medical coverage (including evacuation coverage) should an emergency or accident occur on the trip. Please note that certain provisions, such as CFAR and the “Pre-Existing Conditions Exclusion Waiver” are only available if you purchase insurance within 14 days of your initial trip payment.
*CFAR is offered at an additional cost. Not available to residents of NY. Additional terms apply, see plan for details.
