Owyhee River Kayak Expedition Our most ambitious and adventurous trip leads you on a 6-day, 50 mile exploration of the Lower Owyhee River from Rome to Birch Creek. If you’ve floated the Owyhee before you are well aware of the spectacular scenery and splendid isolation of Oregon’s Grand Canyon. Low water levels in late summer and fall make travel by raft impossible, but by kayak you can explore this desert sanctuary in true expedition style without seeing another living soul for the duration of the trip. The rapids are challenging and the camping is “back-packer” style, but for the hardy and adventurous folks who undertake this challenge, the fond memories of this unique experience are sure to last a lifetime. Date: Sept 6-11 (trip limited to 10 participants) Price: $799/person (+3% land use fee) (16 and older)

Late Summer Water Levels Make Rafting in August More Like July With all the snow we had last winter, late summer water levels on all of our rivers are higher than normal. We would normally expect the McKenzie River and North Umpqua River to be getting low and “bony” right now, but the rafting experience is more like what one would expect in early July. McKenzie and North Umpqua rafting trips will be plenty exciting well past Labor Day. What’s your excuse? Take advantage of a unique water year and get on the river before the summer is gone!
Do You Prefer Trips without Kids? The Rogue River in September still has plenty of water for rafting. The crowds (and kids) are gone, the wildlife is abundant and the atmosphere is relaxed with warm autumn temperatures making for a comfortable multi-day wilderness rafting experience. Add in gourmet meals served with fine wines on full-sized banquet tables and comfortable camping gear and you’ve got the perfect cap to end your summer outdoor adventures.
Date: Sept 6-9
