Oregon Shakespeare Festival A wide variety of plays takes place each summer at this nationally recognized festival in Ashland, Oregon.  Fans love the wonderful outdoor Elizabethan theatre.  Ashland also offers  great dining, site seeing and lodging.   45 minutes south of Grants Pass.
Historic Jacksonville  Oregon's first state capital. Hosts the Britt Music Festival in an outdoor amphitheater.  Great lodging, dining and site seeing.  Located 40 minutes south of Grants Pass.

There are many beautiful campsites along the North Umpqua River in the area where we raft.  Except for a few large group sites at Horseshoe Bend and near Steamboat, none of  the campgrounds take reservations.  Horseshoe Bend is the most popular, but all of them are great.  The following link will take you to a Forest Service map of the campgrounds.  Click here for a campground map.

Crater Lake National Park Crater Lake has inspired people for hundreds of years. No place else on earth combines a deep, pure lake, so blue in color; sheer surrounding cliffs, almost two thousand feet high and a picturesque island.
Umpqua Valley Vineyard Tours  Due to the valley's diverse soil and climate a wide variety of wines can be produced such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.  Every winery in this region is family owned and operated.
Diamond Lake  This alpine lake located in the Umpqua National Forest offers many recreational activities and resort facilities.  Located off Hwy. 138, just  five miles north of Crater Lake National Park.

John Day Fossil Beds National Monument  30 to 40 million year old fossil beds expose brilliantly colored volcanic deposits and contain one of the world's greatest collections of early mammal specimans.  Take an interpretive hike, have a picnic or check out the museum.
Kam Wah Chung & Co. Museum Owned by 19th century gold miner "Doc" Ing Hay.  This museum will give you a glimpse into both the life and culture of an early Chinese community in Oregon. Located in John Day, OR. 
Fossil, Oregon offers local rock hounding and fossil-hunting opportunities such as Richardson's Rock Ranch.

Jordan Craters  "Moonscape-like" area of basalt lava flows with well preserved vents and striking features.  Located 60 miles northeast of Rome.
Jordan Valley "Big Loop" Rodeo  Rough, wild and in the tradition of the old west this rodeo draws cowboys from all over the west.  Held the third weekend in May.  Located in Jordan Valley, Oregon.
Malheur National Wildlife Refuge  187,000 acreas of habitat including wetlands, riparian area, meadows and uplands offer prime wildlife viewing.  The refuge has over 320 species of birds and 58 species of mammals.  Located just south of Burns, Oregon.
Silver City, Idaho Ghost Town  An authentic old-west town.  May be difficult to get to in the spring.  Located 60 slow miles east of Rome.
Paradise Birding  Birding trips in the nearby Malheur Wildlife Refuge and river-based birding trips on the Owyhee.

Hells Canyon National Recreation Area  This very impressive canyon is the deepest in North America offering hiking, scenic viewpoints, wildlife and solitude.  Located south of Lewiston.
Wallowa Lake State Park  Surrounded by snow-capped mountains this park offers hiking, horseback riding, camping, canoeing and abundant wildlife.  Located near the town of Joseph, famous for its bronze foundry.  Two hours south of Lewiston.
Bitterroot National Forest  The 1.6 million acre forest contains mountain peaks, wildlife including grizzly bears and wolves and the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness which is the largest wilderness area in the lower 48 states.
Clearwater Historical Museum  This museum displays over 4000 photographs and artifacts from the Lewis and Clark Expedition and of the Nez Perce Indians.  In Orofino, east of Lewiston on US Hwy 12.
Idaho Repertory Theatre  This theatre is one of the longest running professional summer theatres in the Pacific Northwest.  Located in Moscow, north of Lewiston on US Hwy 95.
Nez Perce National Historical Park  More than 38 separate sites scattered throughout Oregon and Idaho make up the park.  An interpretive center near Spalding provides insight into the culture.
River Quest Excursions Jet Boat tours in Hells Canyon. River Quest provides our jet boat transportation.
Eagle Cap Guide Service Fishing on the Wallowa, Minam, Grand Ronde and other rivers, plus alpine lakes in the Eagle Cap Wilderness.
Wolf Education and Research Center This twenty-acre enclosure is home to a pack of wolves.  The visitor center is  open daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day and offers self-guided and guided tours by reservation. Located in nearby Winchester; 40 minutes outside of Lewiston.
